GetWellNetwork recently announced the recipients of its 2020 GetConnected Awards on March 4, during the GetConnected 2020 conference in Washington, D.C. The winners represent healthcare organizations and individuals that have embraced digital transformation and pushed the boundaries of patient engagement, helping patients and providers unite to own the healthcare journey.

The GetConnected 2020 Executive Advisory Group, which is made up of top executives and patient experience officers from leading health systems across the nation, selected the winners from more than 50 nominees, spanning across five different categories.

The following are the GetWellNetwork 2020 GetConnected Award winners:

Adoption

The Adoption Awards are given to facilities that have the exceptional ability to create outstanding patient experiences inside and outside of the hospital's four walls, reduce operational costs while innovating with emerging technologies and leverage data and use analytics to gain real-time insight. The winners of this year’s Adoption Awards include:

Lafayette General Health, which leveraged advanced digital solutions to automate outreach to all discharged emergency department patients, allowing staff to focus phone calls on those who need it. As a result, the organization changed its clinical protocols, lowered readmissions and created an outstanding patient experience.

Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park Medical Center, which made it easy for patients to access information about their medications and to send information the patient reviewed to any email address, ensuring ready access, even post-discharge. As a result, it has shown sustained improvement in patient satisfaction with communication about medicines.

Atrium Health, which focused on improving patient satisfaction with medication teaching, and encouraged patients to view their medication information though GetWellNetwork, resulting in a 54% increase. It also led to an increase in all Press Ganey scores regarding Medication Communication in 2019.

Optimization

The Optimization Awards recognize facilities that run GetWellNetwork solutions at peak performance, integrate with an established ecosystem or allow GetWellNetwork solutions to flourish on their own, and deliver superior results for patients and providers alike. The winners of the 2020 Optimization Awards include:

Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin, which significantly optimized its utilization of GetWell Loop over the past few years, standardizing use of care pathways to engage with patients through an entire episode of care, catch early warning signs for complications in real time and improve patient satisfaction.

VA New Jersey Health Care System, which put a strong emphasis on making Veterans feel independent and in charge of their wellbeing, while also using the GetWellNetwork platform to establish a sense of community at the facility and connect residents to their care teams.

Sharp Healthcare, which established a monthly steering committee to develop a unified strategy using GetWellNetwork to apply high reliability standards across the organization. It also began using integrative healing therapies and medication education through GetWellNetwork to help patients with pain, stress and sleep, while reducing the use of opioids across the organization.

Innovation

The Innovation Awards are given to facilities that accelerate the pace of innovation by optimizing organizational capabilities, creatively explore new strategies, care processes and technologies, and improve patient care and hospital outcomes. The 2020 winners include:

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, which used GetWellNetwork to focus on quality improvement, incorporate technology to support educating patients and families and utilize rounds to document observations and provide feedback in real-time. These initiatives addressed different patient populations and brought together multi-disciplinary teams to address distinct conditions.

LifeBridge Health, which embraced GetWellNetwork as a cross-continuum solution, showing how it can be leveraged collectively to improve the patient's experience around the discharge process, across different settings of care. As a result, the organization improved patient satisfaction with the discharge process, increased efficiency by enabling staff to proactively identify and prioritize patients with barriers to discharge and automated the post-discharge call process.

Valley Medical Center, which partnered with GetWellNetwork and Epic to create a co-exist strategy designed to focus on patient-centered care.
