I’ve been feeling a mix of emotions in recent weeks, as I’m sure you all have. I’ve felt worry and the need for preparation, but I’ve also felt an increased sense of responsibility.
I feel this one truth deep in my soul: Working in healthcare technology, we have the ability to make an impact. To educate, to triage patients and to help the providers on the front lines do the difficult, awe-inspiring work they’re doing every day as efficiently as they can, as effectively as they can and as safely as they can.
Safety is key
One of the specific things I’ve been thinking about so much during this pandemic is the need to keep people safe. From family to friends, to employees, to clients, to partners...we’re all working together to help those in need. And I’m sure everyone reading this has put thought into how to keep their families safe.
But more than that, in the healthcare space, we’re working to ensure that more lives aren’t touched by this virus, that more people can sleep safely at night knowing their own friends and loved ones are safe.
Doing the work to make the difference
It’s difficult work. It can be exhausting. And it pales in comparison to the work being done by our brave healthcare providers. But by keeping them safe — through remote monitoring, education and rounding tools — we can provide vital support in a time of need and watch that effort have a ripple effect to patient populations.
It’s the least we can do. It’s what we have to do.
Practicing what we preach
As we roll out new digital solutions here at GetWellNetwork to help tackle this public health emergency, it’s vital to us to continue practicing what we preach.
With that in mind, we’ve enrolled our own employees on a COVID-19 Loop, sent to their device, guiding them through this time of concern, step-by-step. This means that rather than causing capacity overload by heading to providers at the first sign of concern, our now fully remote team can self-monitor from the safety and comfort of their own homes, and GetWell Loop will automatically provide guidance if and when intervention is required.
We’re all in this together. And we take that responsibility seriously.
